Steam Next Fest Marketing Guide
Steam Next Fest is easier to use effectively when it is treated as a campaign with preparation, event execution, and follow-up. The demo is central, but the surrounding store page, messaging, outreach, and community activity determine how well new attention is converted into lasting interest.
1. Audit the store page before the event
Review the capsule, trailer, screenshots, description, tags, supported languages, demo presentation, and visible calls to action before external traffic increases.
Your page should set the same expectations as the demo. If the trailer presents one type of game while the demo delivers another, the event can generate attention without converting it into long-term interest.
2. Test the demo as a first-time player experience
Festival players may give a demo only a short opportunity. Reduce avoidable friction in the opening, explain the controls, show the central mechanic early, and test common hardware configurations.
Build feedback collection into the plan so recurring problems can be identified while the event is still active or immediately afterward.
3. Prepare promotion before the festival starts
Create the posts, short clips, screenshots, creator list, press materials, community announcements, and livestream schedule in advance. This leaves the team free to respond to players during the event instead of assembling every asset at the last minute.
4. Give livestreams and community posts a purpose
A livestream can demonstrate advanced mechanics, answer questions, show development context, or highlight content that a short demo may not reach. Community posts should also add information rather than simply repeating that the festival is live.
5. Continue after Next Fest ends
Review feedback, update the demo or store page where appropriate, publish a recap or development update, follow up with creators who showed interest, and keep the most engaged players connected through your community channels.
The event can be a discovery spike, but the value increases when that attention becomes an audience you can reach again closer to launch.
